Mahasarakham province is in the center of
the Isan Northeastern district of
Thailand. Being away from the Western
influences common in popular tourist
destinations it is an ideal place to be
immersed in Thai culture and learn the
ways
and language of Thai people.
Mahasarakham University offers PureThai
courses to international students
to promote better understanding of Thailand and to introduce Thai language, music and culture.
PureThai 1
This program introduces international
students to standard Thai and Isan Thai
language as well as important traditions
and cultures. It includes a study
tour
to
a
historic site.
Duration: 1 - 2 weeks
PureThai 2 Students will learn to speak standard Thai
and Isan Thai language. Four days of
classes per week include Thai and Isan
traditions, culture and music. There is a
study tour to a historic site. Students may
stay in an apartment or with a host family.
Duration: 4 weeks
PureThai 3
Students will study Thai and Isan culture,
language and music for four months
attending regular classes arranged for Thai
students. This program includes a Thai
study tour and one tour to a neighboring
country (Laos or Cambodia).
Duration: 4 months (June to September or
November to February)
ThaiPal
As part of the PureThai program each
exchange student is allocated a Thai student
as their friend for the time of the program.
Your ThaiPal speaks your language as well
as Thai. MSU can provide students who
speak English, Japanese, Chinese, Khmer,
Vietnamese, Korean or French.
Costs for each program include airport
pickup, accommodation, meals and tour but
do not include airfares. Minimum
enrolment for each program: 5 persons.
