MSU Creative Arts Students Win the 1st Place in the 12th Royal Peacock Thai Silk Fair 2017
 
Mahasarakham University team, comprised of Creative Arts students from the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Design and Creative, has won the first place in the 12th Royal Peacock Thai Silk Fair 2017 hosted by The Queen Sirikit Department of Sericulture, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
 
The fair is held to celebrate the 85th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, and to extend gratitude to Her Majesty for her contribution to the Thai silk industry over the years. The fair also aims to equip young Thai people with knowledge about the local wisdom of sericulture and to encourage them to help preserve Thai silk. 
 
The fair features an exhibition on Her Majesty the Queen’s contribution to Thai silk and sericulture, demonstrations of silk weaving from a silk cocoon, a bazaar of silk products, with over 200 booths, and a textile design contest. 
 
The winning entry was designed by MSU Creative Arts Students in conjunction with Ban Khok Lam Silk Group of Phayakkhaphum Phisai District, Maha Sarakham. MSU student representative received a royal trophy from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn who also presided over the 12th Royal Peacock Thai Silk Fair 2017 on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on July 14, 2017 at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province, Thailand.
